Harvard University has good histories, good rankings, its quality of education; large campus and wealth and academic influence have made it one of the most exalted universities in the planet.

History:

It was named after its first benefactor, John Harvard. By the Massachusetts legislature Harvard was established in 1636. It is the oldest institution of higher learning and the first corporation chartered in the country. Officially The President and Fellows of Harvard College was that legislature. Latin name and current university president:

Latin name of the university is ‘Universitas Harvardiana’. Motto                is ‘Veritas’.  Motto in English is ‘Truth’, Endowment of the univerity: US$30 billion (2012), its present President name is ‘Drew Gilpin Faust’, it has a Newspaper named ‘The Harvard Crimson’, university color is Crimson; and athletics of the university are 42 Varsity Teams.

Campus:

Harvard’s 209-acre (85 ha) key campus is centered on Harvard Yard in Cambridge, approximately 3.4 miles (5.5 km) northwest of city center Boston and extends into the surrounding Harvard rectangle vicinity.

The majority of the freshman dormitories, Memorial Church, academic buildings, University Hall, Sever Hall including main libraries of the university and central administrative offices were contained Harvard Yard itself.

Yale University alumnus Edward Harkness gave some dining hall and library, and residential rooms for House masters, undergraduates and resident tutors, together in each residential place as gift from him.

Campus expansion:

A walk across the Charles River from Cambridge, tracts of land in Allston are purchased by the authority with the intent of major expansion southward. The Harvard University now owns just about 50% more land in Allston than in Cambridge. It made some proposals to connect the Cambridge campus with the new Allston campus includes new and enlarged bridges, it also wants to start shuttle services after bridge has made.

More plans for campus:

It also made plan for sinking part of Storrow Drive (at Harvard’s expense) for replacement with park land and bike paths or used car and or used bike parking areas, [Auto reviews] to the Charles River, as well as the structure of pedestrian access, and buildings throughout the Allston campus. Such expansion will benefit the school and surrounding community.

In addition, for several interdisciplinary programs, including the enlarged Engineering department and Harvard Stem Cell Institute the University plans to build two 500,000 square foot (50,000 m²) research complexes in Allston.

It is considering constructing large-scale museums and performing arts complexes and several new undergraduate and graduate student housing centers in Allston. Harvard intends to relocate the Harvard Graduate School of Education and the Harvard School of Public Health to Allston. Unfortunately the big drop in donation has halted these plans for currently.

Academic article review:

There are 16,000 staff and faculty. The university offers 46 undergraduate concentrations, 32 professional degrees and 134 graduate degrees. Harvard granted 4,460 professional degrees, 512 doctoral degrees, 400 master’s degrees and 1,664 baccalaureate degrees. Research centers attached to schools and departments over there. It has a nice and a large library named harvard university library

The four years:

Entering students were required to complete a core curriculum of seven classes outside of their concentration between 1978 and 2008.

Full-time undergraduate line up (The four years) comprises a marginal of enrollments at the university and emphasizes order with an “arts and sciences focus”.

Undergraduate program:

Since 2008, undergraduate students have been required to complete courses in eight General Education categories:  Science of the Physical Universe, Ethical Reasoning, Science of Living Systems, Empirical and Mathematical Reasoning, Culture and Belief, Aesthetic and Interpretive indulgent, Societies of the planet, and America in the planet.

Doctoral graduate program:

They consider this to adversely affect the quality of education after being criticized by The New York Times, and some students  that Harvard for its reliance on teaching fellows for some aspects of undergraduate education.

Independent organizations:

For instruction in Harvard College, Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, and the Harvard Division of Continuing Education, The Faculty of Arts and Sciences is primary responsible, which includes Harvard Extension School and Harvard Summer School. There is also the Radcliffe Institute for superior Study.

Harvard is governed by a combination of its Board of Overseers and the President and Fellows of Harvard College also known as the Harvard Corporation, which in turn appoints the President of Harvard University. The students practices athletics, story writings or and culture.
